Băile Tuşnad

Băile Tuşnad (Hungarian Tusnádfürdő) is a spa town in Szeklerland.

Understand

Located in a beautiful ancient volcanic area in south-eastern Transylvania, Băile Tuşnad (founded around 1842) is small resort best known for its mineral springs.

Get in

By train

The town is on a relatively important railway and it's reached by numerous trains. Amongst them there are hourly trains from Braşov (one-two hours travel time), three direct trains from Bucharest (4 1/2 hours) as well as two international trains from Budapest (14 hours).

Get around

The resort area is walkable.

  • Lacul Ciucaş (Ciucaş lake) (in the middle of the resort).
  • Biserica Adormirea Maicii Domnului (Dormition church), strada Oltului nr. 31. A small Orthodox church
  • Biserica Sfanta Maria (Saint Mary church), strada Oltului nr. 106. A Catholic church with impressive modern architecture.
