Bay Head

Bay Head is a village of fewer than 1,000 people (2020) in Ocean County, New Jersey. A county in the American state of New Jersey, it was founded in 1850. It belongs to the New York Metropolitan Area, and out of a total area of 2,372㎢, 1,647㎢ is land. It lies 80 km east of Philadelphia, 110 km south of New York City, New York, and 40 km north of Atlantic City, along the Jersey coast. The administrative center and largest city is the Toms River.

Bay Head is situated on the Barnegat Peninsula, also known as Barnegat Bay Island, a long, narrow barrier island that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. Together with Mantoloking, Bay Head is considered part of the Jersey Shore's "Gold Coast".

Most of the counties form a flat coastline, and it is also home to the most beautiful coast in the United States. Attractions include resorts such as Island Beach State Park, the largest Six Flags Theme Park in the United States, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the largest water park in New Jersey, and Six Flags Wild Safari Park, as well as beaches such as Long Beach Island, Beach Haven, Ship Bottom, Surf City, and Harvey Cedars.

The main roadway through Bay Head is Route 35, a two-lane highway that connects many of the Jersey Shore's small communities.

By public transportation

NJ Transit trains terminate at the Bay Head station and yard, with service on the North Jersey Coast Line north from Penn Station Newark, Hoboken Terminal and Penn Station New York in Midtown Manhattan.
