Checotah

Checotah is a town in the Green Country area of Oklahoma, named after a Creek Nation chief. It got into an armed dispute over the county seat status of McIntosh County around 1908 with Eufaula but lost. It's another one of those Oklahoma boom and bust oil towns but seems to be holding on with agriculture and manufacturing and service sector industry.

Get in

It is easily accessible from I-40 and US Route 69, which seems almost as long as I-40, stretching from Albert Lea, Minnesota to Port Arthur, Texas.
