Coconuco

Coconuco is a small village a curvy hour ride from Popayan whose main attraction is the Aguas Hirviendes hot springs and a few natural pools of cold water. Once in Coconuco, it is necessary to either wait on the main street in town for a mototaxi or hike 1- 1½ hours uphill to the hot springs. There is a fork in the road with two signs that indicate the direction of the hot springs.

Get in

The last bus leaves Coconuco at around 5PM.

Do

  • Aguas Hirviendes is gated and costs a few thousand pesos to enter. Outside the gates are a few guesthouses and restaurants. The restaurant inside offers a meal of the day for around COP$8,000.
