Cotuit

Cotuit is a village of the town of Barnstable on Cape Cod. Cotuit Oyster Company has been producing oysters in the pretty harbor since 1837. In this quiet residential area with upscale summer retreats, the harbor provides great boating and kayaking and some beautiful views.

Main Street is off of Route 28 near the intersection of Route 28 and Route 130 (where 130 terminates).

The village can be walked, but it's advisable to have a car.

Nearest place to sample the famous oysters are at Sienna Restaurant in Mashpee.

  • Kettle-Ho Restaurant and Taverna, 12 School Street, +1 508 428-1862. M-F 3PM-midnight, Sa Su noon-midnight. Nice local bar with thin crust pizza and "better than good" pub food. Named after the legend in Cotuit that it was purchased from the natives for a kettle and a hoe. Sports on TV, friendly locals.
