History

In the fourth year of the Hongwu reign of Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty (1371 AD), Jiaoxi County was directly under the jurisdiction of Jiaozhou. In the spring of the 24th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1898 AD) and the third year of the Xuantong reign (1911 AD), Zhuzhong District of Jiaoxian County was renamed as the Fifth District of Jiaoxian County. Huangdao, Xuejiadao, and Xin'an are all under the jurisdiction of Zhushan County. In November, Zhushan County was dissolved and merged into Jiaoxian County. In 1943, the Zhujiabian Office of the Anti Japanese Democratic Government was established, and in 1944, the two counties of Zangma and Zhujiabian were established as coastal administrative offices. In September 1946, Jiaonan County was established in nine districts south of Yanghe in Jiaonan County and Xuejiadao District in Qingdao Office, belonging to the Binbei Special Zone. By October 1976, the Shandong Provincial Revolutionary Committee had decided to allocate three people's communes, namely Huangdao, Xuejiadao, and Xin'an, from Jiaonan County to form the Huangdao Revolutionary Committee, which was a county-level organization. In January 1979, with the approval of the State Council, three people's communes under the jurisdiction of the Huangdao Revolutionary Committee were separated from the Changwei area and assigned to Qingdao City. They were established in Huangdao District, Qingdao City, at the county level. In August 1984, the institutional reform abolished the people's commune system and established Huangdao Town and Xuejiadao Town. The original Xin'an People's Commune was divided into two parts, and Xin'an Town and Liuhuabo Township were established. On December 1, 2012, in accordance with the approval of the State Council, the original Huangdao District and Jiaonan City of Qingdao were merged into a new Huangdao District.
