Humacao

Humacao is a municipality and the largest city in the eastern coast of Puerto Rico. The city is most famous for its resort community, Palmas del Mar, its numerous beaches, its University of Puerto Rico campus and astronomical observatory, its nature reserves and its seafood heritage.

Humacao has an area of 55.46 square miles divided into 13 areas called barrios, including the downtown barrio referred to as Pueblo, with the municipal buildings, a Roman Catholic church, and a main recreational plaza.

    You can drive around the pueblo or park your car and walk around the square and into the plaza. The Spanish law, which regulated life in Puerto Rico in the early 19th century, stated the plaza's purpose was for celebrations and festivities.
