Loyalton, a small city of about 800 residents Sierra County, California, claims to be the "loneliest town in America". On average, about 11 people pass through each day, despite its proximity to major transport routes and a handful of attractions.

Loyalton loves to point out that it's located right on a major state route, Highway 49, and within 40 miles of I-80 and I-395. It's also just 40 miles from Reno, which has an international airport.
