Miguel Pereira

Miguel Pereira is a town of Centro-Sul Fluminense, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in the Southeast of Brazil.

Miguel Pereira is famous for its exuberant nature, cool climate and tranquility. There is a fact widely spread in the city, but not yet confirmed, that the city would have the 3rd best climate in the world.

There is no disputing that Miguel Pereira is a climatic resort, with beautiful landscapes and perfect hideaways for those who want to escape the chaos of big cities. One of the most visited spots is Lake Javary, where you can ride a pedal boat and breathe the fresh mountain air.

This city is located in a mountainous area about 620 meters above sea level. This municipality is known for its climate, rivers, water falls and the cleanliness of the water. As of 2020, its population was about 25,000.

By car

Approximately 150 km from downtown Rio de Janeiro in a total of 110 minutes. Go towards São Paulo, passing by Linha Vermelha and following Rodovia Presidente Dutra until exit 205 (it is 1 km before the 1st toll booth and 500 m from the 1st SOS). Drive along RJ 125 until the end, passing through Japeri, Conrado, Post of the Highway Police, Arcadia and go up the 9-km mountain (about 15 minutes), Governador Portela, Barão de Javary and Miguel Pereira.

By bus

From Rio the intercity buses of Util have rides for around R$40 (Dec 2021). They depart from the Novo Rio Bus Terminal. Av. Francisco Bicalho, 01 - Santo Cristo - +52 21 3213-1800.
