Montefollonico

Montefollonico is a hilltop village in the province of Siena in Tuscany, Italy.  It was built in the 13th century, but has existed long before that.

Understand

It sits across the valley from another hilltop town: Montepulciano.  During medieval times, these cities were controlled by different families and were constantly at war with each other. It is relatively unchanged because it is off the tourist path and it still looks the way it did in the 13th century.
