Moorreesburg is known as the breadbasket of the Western Cape and lies in the heart of the Swartland about 100 km from Cape Town, on the N7 to Namibia.

Guestfarms in the area are very popular especially for Capetonians to breakaway for a weekend. There are activities on the Bergriver eg, camping, canoeing, swimming, fishing and hiking. For the more adventurous there are 4x4 routes, clay pigeon shooting and wingshooting.
