Nurabad (Lorestan)

Nurabad is an Iranian city, located high in the mountainous area of northwest Lorestan. It is home to some 13,000 (2016) people, and is the capital of its district.

The common language in town and of the surrounding Delfan County is Laki, one of the main languages of western Iran.

This city is one of the highest cities in Iran with an altitude of more than 2,000 meters above sea level. Winters can be very cold at these heights.

From Khorramabad, it is 85 km, from Kermanshah 95 km, from Tehran 490 km, and from Nahavand 60 km.

Get around

The roads are reasonably good and there are bus connections. Train stations in the area are in Dorud and Azna.

See

Among its scenic and pilgrimage areas are the legendary mountain altar, the tomb of Imamzadeh Ibrahim (nicknamed Bababzorg), and Imamzadeh Pir Mohammad.
