Oneonta (Alabama)

Oneonta is a small town in the mountains of Alabama, home to the Covered Bridge Festival. For once it seems the North and South have some commonality, as this Oneonta bears the name after the one in New York.

See

  • 🌍 Easley Covered Bridge, Easley Bridge Rd. A single lane covered bridge built in 1927.
  • 🌍 Swann Covered Bridge, 1590 Swann Bridge Rd, Cleveland. Another single lane bridge, built a little later in 1933, that stretches some 324 feet.
  • 🌍 Nectar Falls, 16138 AL-160, Cleveland. Like a little water terrace with the after effects of an abandoned covered bridge nearby.
  • 🌍 Palisades Park, 1225 Palisades Pkwy. Daily 9AM-9PM. Some rather enthralling cliffs and viewpoints here, plus a historic Quilter's Cottage.
  • 🌍 Horton Mill Covered Bridge, 35-91 Covered Bridge Cir. A really quite striking covered bridge from 1934 with a length of 220 feet.

Do

  • Covered Bridge Festival.

Sleep

Although there are some motels in Oneonta, you'd do well to stay elsewhere because the ones here are really second rate.
