Robe is a historic town on the Limestone Coast of South Australia.

History

At one point Robe was the third largest port in South Australia, although the rugged coastline makes it generally unsuitable for shipping.

Robe has mild summers, with the average summer temperature around 22°C.

Get in

By car

Robe is on the coast between Mount Gambier and Adelaide, just off B1. It is around 3.5 hours and 340km drive from Adelaide and around 7 hours and 500km from Melbourne.

By bus

Premier Stateliner run a bus every day except Saturday from Adelaide to Mount Gambier via the coast, which stops in Robe.

  • 🌍 Robe Lighthouse. Not historic, but a concrete structure built in 1972, which its purpose was to replace the now defunct Cape Jaffa Lighthouse near Kingston.

  • 🌍 Little Dip Conservation Park. A conservation park that conserves a chain of small lakes which combine to provide habitat for several bird species. It has quite some nice beaches too. (updated Feb 2022)
