  • 🌍 Kawanoe Castle (川之江城). Kawanoe Castle was built in Iyo Province (modern Ehime Prefecture) to protect the province from invasions from Sanuki Province (modern Kagawa). Due to its location at the border with Sanuki Province, Tosa Province (modern Kochi), and Awa Province (modern Tokushima), it was under constant attack during the Warring States Period. All of Shikoku's provinces fought here until it was eventually conquered by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1585. It was torn down in 1611 and parts of the original castle were used to build Matsuyama Castle. ¥100.
