Siikajoki

Siikajoki is a municipality in Western Oulu region, stretching from the Siikajoki church village (Siikajoen kirkonkylä) at the coast along Siikajoki river as far inland as Ruukki.

By train

There's a train station in Ruukki on the western main Finnish north-south line, with trains coming from as far as Helsinki, Kemijärvi and Kolari.

By car

Highway 8 between Kokkola and Oulu goes through the municipality.

See

  • 🌍 Siikajoki church (a bit north of Siikajoki village). Wooden grey-ish church from 1701, laid out like a cross. At the churchyard there's a memorial to the 1808 Battle of Siikajoki in the Finnish War (part of the Napoleonic Wars) where Swedish troops stopped the Russian advance.
