- 🌍 Northeastern State University. Public university with classes in both English and Cherokee. The oldest building, Seminary Hall, dates to 1889.
- 🌍 Cherokee National Capitol, 101 South Muskogee Avenue. Two-story government building designated as a National Historic Landmark and serves as a tribal supreme court.
Do
- Float the Illinois River. The Illinois River flows through Tahlequah, and has been designated a Scenic River since the 1970s.
- 🌍 Cherokee Heritage Center. Just to the south in Park Hill, Oklahoma, the center includes a reproduction of an ancient Cherokee Village, the Cherokee National Museum- including the renowned Trail of Tears Exhibit, and the Cherokee Genealogy Center.
