Valkeakoski

Valkeakoski is a town in Finland, about 40 km from Tampere to southeast.

Valkeakoski is a traditional industrial town and its history is strongly linked to the development of factories and industry. Today, the town still has many industrial enterprises, such as a paper mill and a machine shop. New sectors such as information technology and the service sector have also sought to diversify the city's economy.

By bus

Toijala is the nearest railway station. There is a bus between Toijala and Valkeakoski which goes few times per day at weekdays, see timetables.

Valkeakoski has a local bus system, which works mainly at daytime on weekdays. At the other times, it is possible to use longer-distance routes. The Nysse route planner is useful for getting around by bus in Valkeakoski.

Sampobussi offers flexible service in the town and surrounding villages. The downtown stop is at market square (Kauppatori) by the fountain.

  • 🌍 Rapola Hill Fort (Rapolan linnavuori), Sääksmäentie 770 (bus stop "Voipaala"), +358 206 39 5270, . A geological wonder, which is also an ancient fortress mountain and castle of cultural and historical importance. From its two lookout points you can gaze out over the national landscape of Vanaja. A ring trail can be followed along the ridge. Picnic tables are available at the viewpoint.

  • Football: FC Haka play soccer in Veikkausliiga, the top tier. Their home ground Tehtaan kenttä (capacity 3500) is 500 m west of town centre. The playing season is April-Oct.
