Western Slovakia is in the region including the capital Bratislava, the Slovakian Danube River Valley, and other lower-lying territory, bounded on the north by the Czech Republic, on the west by Austria, on the south by Hungary.

Mountain ranges / national parks:
- 🌍 Little Carpathians. Small mountains continuing into Austria, many hiking/cycling trails present. Also skiing is possible (Pezinská Baba).
- 🌍 Strážov Mountains (Strážovské vrchy). One of the largest mountain ranges in the Fatra-Tatra area of Slovakia. Relatively non-crowded and demanding hikes, often with >500m ascends. The more popular peaks Vápeč and Strážov provide good views.
- 🌍 Vtáčnik. A small mountain range.
- 🌍 White Carpathians. The mountain continues into Czech Republic
