Widecombe in the Moor

• Widecombe Fair, Village green and Fair Field. Second Tuesday of September. All the trappings of a traditional country fair: livestock contests, vintage tractors, dog shows and a bail tossing competition. The fair has become famous thanks to a humorous folk song in which a group of local yokels ("Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all") borrow a lame old mare to ride to the fair, only for her to die of exhaustion on the moors. When performed right, it's funnier than it sounds. Free, but expect to pay for parking. (updated Oct 2020)

• 🌍 Bell Tor (north east of Widecombe and Bonehill). 423 m (1,388 ft) high. (updated Nov 2020)
• 🌍 Bonehill Rocks (150 m (490 ft) south of the Bonehill Road with a choice of 3 car parks.). 393 m (1,289 ft) high (updated Nov 2020)
• 🌍 Hollow Tor (south south east of Widecombe). 370 m (1,210 ft) high. (updated Nov 2020)
• 🌍 Wind Tor (south west of Widecombe). At the south of Dunstone Down.375 m (1,230 ft) high. (updated Oct 2020)
