Zhenxibao (鎮西堡) is a village in Jianshih Township in Hsinchu County.

Get in

By car

From Freeway No. 1 or 3 change to Expressway 68 direction to Chutung (east) close to Hsinchu. At the end of the expressway, turn left and follow road number 3 for a few kilometers, and then turn right onto road 120 to Neiwan. A few kilometers after Neiwan, turn right onto road 竹60 and cross the 🌍 river. After another few kilometers, cross the bridge at the big 🌍 aboriginal sculpture. Follow this road for about 50 km (31 mi) until Zhenxibao. The drive from Hsinchu will take about 2.5 to 3 hours. A permit has to be obtained at a 🌍 police station on the way (NT$15 fee).

Get around

On foot, by car or scooter. As the "road" in Zhenxibao is in a very bad condition, care has to be taken while driving.

See

  • Zhenxibao is mainly known for its giant trees. A 🌍 parking lot can be reached from the village in about 20 minutes by car or scooter. From there it takes about 1 hr to reach the giant trees. As the trees are spread over a rather wide area exploring everything will take several hours.

Do

Zhenxibao makes a great weekend trip during summer. Located at an altitude of about 1600 m the temperatures are quite comfortable during the day and the air is fresh. The only attraction are the giant trees which are an easy hike away from the village. The Shei-pa National Park can also be reached on foot from here. This hike, however, takes several days and requires a good physical condition.

Buy

  • In this area peaches are grown and can be bought during summer.
