Mid Cape

The Mid Cape is the Central region of Cape Cod.

Towns

  • 🌍 Barnstable was the first town to be settled on Cape Cod, on the north side of the region, and has a working harbor and several beaches, including Sandy Neck, one of the Cape’s largest.
  • 🌍 Centerville on the south side is mostly residential and has many popular beaches.
  • 🌍 Osterville on the southwest side is residential, with a charming town center and a coast that includes inlets and harbors for boating and fishing.
  • 🌍 Hyannis is the Cape’s largest commercial hub, home to several shopping malls and a mile-long Main Street corridor. Hyannis has a mid-sized waterfront area, which provides ferry access to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket islands, and has several restaurants and beaches. The regional airport and bus terminal are also here.
  • 🌍 Marstons Mills is primarily residential, on Route 28.
  • 🌍 Cotuit is tucked on a peninsula in the extreme southwest corner of the area, with several small beaches.
  • 🌍 Dennis (includes the village of Dennis Port)
  • 🌍 Yarmouth (includes the village of Yarmouth Port (includes Bass River)

Understand

The village of Hyannis in Barnstable is the commercial center of Cape Cod and is home to the most transportation options, the largest hospital, and the largest mall. Many see the villages of Barnstable as separate towns, with Hyannis as the largest "city" on the Cape.
